In June we had a another great day out, this time at Avoncroft Museum of Buildings. Our guide, Andy, gave us an insight into how, where and why the buildings were originally built. One of the gems of the collection is the Tin Tabernacle – the original ‘flat pack’ design. Eat your heart out Ikea!!.
We toured the Toll House, working Windmill and a 1945 prefab which resulted in many nostalgic comments. The collection of familiar red telephone boxes and working telephone exchange caused much amusement and the Edwardian tea shop (formerly a Co-op store) provided a welcome break.
